Malware does pay!
« on: October 03, 2007, 03:34:37 PM »
Hi malware fighters:

If you have to give up only a small portion of your ill-gotten gains it sure pays to put unsollicited spyware onto the web: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/10/motorspyware.shtm
And even if these three spyware kings would refrain from their activities others would be tempted to follow in their steps. Conclusion: malware does pay.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

That is an absolutely pathetic fine, when you consider this is the USA, land of punitive settlements.

$330,000 for the 15 million infected systems, which is a whole $0.02 cents per infected computer, brings a whole new meaning to 'my 2 cents worth.' Even a dollar a time would seem low when you consider the damage/distress to those 15 million people a fine of $15 million would have been more like it.
