Error Code 80004004
« on: October 04, 2007, 03:19:23 PM »
Hey guys,

I searched the forums and support and couldn't find a solution to the problem I am having, so I thought I'd ask the wise minds here!

I am running Vista on my laptop and whenever I try send/receive I get the following error:

Avast – Cannot scan the message body.
Error code is 8000404
Error x 80004004
Avast check file failed

Any idea's?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, M9Media.    :)

Are you saying that this happens when you are trying to send or receive email? If so, is the mail scanner running? What firewall are you using and is ashMaiSV.exe allowed through the firewall?

If the above is not relevant to your problem, please give more information or state the problem in different words.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Everything was working a treat (which is where I need to say how great Avast! is by the way :)) and then the other day I tried scanning an image (Epson Scanner) and tried to send it via. email which it said it had a virus in it. Since I just scanned it I doubted this and skipped it to try and send, however it refused to send the email.

Now whenever I try to read or send an email the pop up error occurs and I need to close off the box three or so times until it allows me to send or receive. Doesn't matter if the email has attachments or not. If it has attachments it says it cannot scan attachment.

Mail Scanner is on and everything updates so I assume it isn't blocked anywhere.

Hope that may be more help :)

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

Or do you have another program that also monitors your email ?

There was some security on there from BigPond (ISP in Australia) but that was removed (including reg entries) and then Avast! was installed. It was fine for about the last three weeks or so (since I installed it) but as above, I tried to scan and send a document and it all went pear shaped from there! I might just have to uninstall it and re-install it again.

What email program are you using ?
Is the email you are trying to send using SSL/TLS secure email ?

Try terminating the Internet Mail provider and try to send and receive some email. Do you still get the error ?
