Major public announcement:

• Firewall We're fully launching our new firewall to the entire userbase
• DoH SecureDNS will now get DoH capabilities, improving privacy

Other notable improvements in the release:

• Fixed the BSOD issue on x86 Windows 7 installations
• Resolved issues with high contrast themes in Windows not displaying the UI properly

New firewall? How? It's not been offered to my installation. The Protection section of theAvast  UI shows a green padlock for the firewall.

I also can't access Firewall. It's enabled but can't access it. Even got the notifaction about Private/Public network.
Tried removing and re-adding the Firewall component and repair app but still no change

1. How does the avast firewall component behave if a user already has a 3rd party firewall installed ?

2. If the user is only using the win10 firewall, how does Windows react to the firewall component being installed ?

BTW, for those who have got the firewall in the free version, is there a way to manually add apps into the firewall? Or is everything automatic with the user having no control over adding apps, like I saw when Avast One first came out.

In my previous experience it automatically disabled the Windows one.

Hi, what is new "Avast Tools" service and why in Action center on Win 7 is still old logo?

Avast break Nal service on Win 7 64bit, after each PC boot this error appear in Windows Event manager(Avast Firewall not installed).

Second release in the row I'll have to skip for now... 

1. Judging by the commenters here, Firewall is forced upon users, disabling the default Windows Firewall (which I personally prefer to use instead of Avast's one), giving no way to disable Firewall in Avast Free, if it's not needed, apparently.

2. Despite various reports over the past month, even during beta testing in its thread, broken Export / Restore settings feature.

Bust most importantly, Firewall must be possible to disable.

Otherwise for people who prefer other Firewalls (including Window's Default one) Avast becomes unusable.

I like my Windows 7 Firewall just fine, and I have many rules there I have no wish to re-create for Avast, even if I did want to use it (which I don't).

Oh yes, this report from the post right above mine, again, doesn't increase my confidence into the new Avast update.

I'm scared to update, because I see it will break everything on my computer that works just fine now.
