Incompatibility between Cleanup premium and ONE ?
« on: December 11, 2021, 04:49:31 PM »
A French user seems to say that according to avast (support answer), it is not possible to install "Avast Cleanup Premium" (paid) if Avast ONE (free) is installed.
Unless he didn't understand correctly, I find this incompatibility strange knowing that some Cleanup features are not available on the free version of ONE.
That said, I advised him to get the paid version of ONE for an extra 20€.

Hi Chris, that's correct.
Avast One contains Avast Cleanup
No, only a part of Cleanup (full) with ONE premium (free)
Cleanup is only fully included in the paid version of ONE

ex:
(only) Speed up your PC ... for free
Clean up(in add), speed up, and update your devices ....for paid

Are you signed into your account?
Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought that once you sign into your account,
your license for paid components is applied?
(That's been my experience with the Driver Updater module)

I thought so too, and I proposed it to the user, he tried it but he says it's not possible.(the support confirmed it).

it seemed so weird to me that's why I opened this topic here
and it's not always easy to answer this kind of problem when we can't test ourselves  ;)

Edit;
Translation of his test

Quote
I just uninstalled Cleanup.
I reinstalled Avast One Free, and logged into my Avast account.
I asked for Cleanup to be installed, which started without any problem, but during the installation, Cleanup asked me again to uninstall OneFree.
I'm going in circles...

What was possible with avast premium (add Cleanup,VPN) no longer seems to be possible with avast ONE

Now,if someone from the avast team could give us an explanation here, that would be great  :)

Thank Asyn
things to keep in mind
Quote
All other Avast products will continue to work and receive application updates as normal. However, it is not possible to use the following applications alongside Avast One:

    Avast SecureLine VPN
    Avast Cleanup Premium
    Avast AntiTrack
    Avast BreachGuard
    Avast Driver Updater

If you try to install Avast One when you already have any of the above listed applications installed on your PC, the Avast One installation is blocked. To resolve the conflict with your existing Avast product(s), you need to uninstall each application before installing Avast One.

Note:Currently, it is only possible to convert an Avast Premium Security for Windows (single-device) subscription to Avast One. It is not possible to convert any other Avast subscription.

That's because those modules are a part of Avast One.
Which means if you're paying for them in another product and change over to Avast One,
you should have the paid features for those components.
That's the part I need Avast to clarify.

The problem is that the FAQ does not differentiate between the 2 versions of "ONE" (free and paid).
And it is precisely the fact of using the free version which makes problem because :
1- the version of the Cleaner  is limited compared to cleanup premium
2-the VPN version is limited compared to SecureLine VPN
3-Driver Updater, Antitrack and BreachGuard don't seem to be present or they are limited

I guess only Avast can give us an actual answer.

Here's the answer I received from Avast:
"it's not possible to use Cleanup alongside Avast One (or Essential) on Windows.
If the user has a paid Cleanup subscription, we'd convert it to the paid version of Avast One
with the same expiration date so the user doesn't miss out on any features they previously had.
If possible, have them contact us so we can arrange the conversion."
Let me know if you need anything else and I'll pass it along.

Thanks Bob,
Yes, the user indicated last night that he received a message from the support in this sense...but he decided to return to the free basic antivirus until Cleanup expires...He will then see how he does, "ONE" being recent, he prefers to wait for more feedback. :)
