After uninstalling symantec antivirus 2006 (NAV6), I installed NAV. It seems to be happy but I'm not sure it's doing the outbound mail scanning in Eudora 6.2 (paid edition so no ads).
I sent myself a test message and this was part of the mail I received:
========
X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 6.2.5.6
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed
X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 000773-1, 09/06/2007), Outbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean
X-Virus-Scanned: Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine
Original-recipient: rfc822;adiamon1@san.rr.com
X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 000773-1, 09/06/2007), Inbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean
=======
So, it seems to me that it's still is using or thinks its using NAV6 for its outgoing mail scanning which is interesting because I uninstalled NAV6. Is there anyway for me to check what's really going on or fix this? Frankly, I don't care what it says as long as Avast is really doing the scanning in both directions.
Is it possible to get a hold of a harmless virus email (something that avast would complain about in an obvious way but something that won't spread or harm) so that I can see that it's being caught on outgoing and ingoing.
