AVAST4 CRASHES CONTINUALLY

I've recently changed from Avast 32 to Avast 4. Everything was great until Avast blocked the NetSkyB@mm virus that was in an e-mail.
Now I repeatedly (every 10 minutes) get an internal crash popup. Also Avast no longer scans my e-mails.
Could anyone advise please. I've sent the crash reports to Avast and e-mailed them 4 times but get no reply.

Have you tried repairing/reinstalling avast ? (via control panel-> software )

I tried reinstalling and repairing - no joy.

one thing to try. update the program .342 is not the latest version. the bug may have already been fixed
