AAVM subsystem error

I have been using avast for ages with no problems. Until just recently i added a dvd-rom drive to my computer, now i keep getting the message 'The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error'

What does this mean and what can i do to correct it?

This mean that at least one of the two avast! services are not running right now. See Administrative Tools > Services and check both avast! services to run automatically at boot time. Start the services as well.

Sometimes, you can correct this by a full uninstall and install again...
