Avast causes error 0x800ccc0f

I cannot receiveve messages in Outlook and my Mailwasher cannot connect to the server. After disabling Avast, Outlook receives messages.After uninstall and reinstall Avast, the problem stays.The error-message I get is:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
 Error Number: 0x800CCC0F".

What is the problem with Avast and how can it be fixed?

- Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
- What avast! version?
- Which actions have you taken to try solving the problem?
- Do you use a firewall? Which one?
- Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?
- Any other security programs that could interfere?

Sounds like firewall blocking.

Is that MS Outlook (not express) ?

MailWasher doesn't download the complete email to do its analysis, it only downloads the headers, a small part of the body, it doesn't download images or attachments and it views what is downloaded in text only. Based on this I personally don't feel that any negligible risk worth scanning duplication, but the choice is yours.

By editing the avast4.ini file, [MailScanner] section using a text editor like notepad. It is best to save a copy of avast4.ini to another location in case of any problem, you can then copy the original back.
