By the way, why don't you just set a blank screensaver instead of none?

never really bothered, theres always someone on it or its switched off plus people in my house turn the switches off so if their mind was elsewhere they would think the computer was off and they turn it off at the wall, not good :'(

Because that won't achieve sanctuary24's aim for the VRDB not to run automatically. 

A screen-saver, blank or otherwise would be running, enabling the VRDB to run if set to 'Generate VRDB only when screen-saver is running' would allow for auto generation.
