No need to reinstall. And these betas are usually very stable. We just help polish them to near perfection before they actually release it into public. Or you can simply wait for official release which shout be out very soon.

One more thing...

This feature doesn't seem to work under Vista. Or at least recently. avast! updates as usual but no tray icon (those two green and red arrows enclosed in circle). I know they appeared in XP and probably even in Vista. Anyway, check it out if everything is ok.

Unfortunately, this feature will not work under Vista until Avast 5. There's no easy way to fix this (in avast 4.x, the updater and all its GUI run in the context of the service, which is not allowed to draw anything under Vista).

Cheers

I was a bit nervous because of the beta thing but everything 100% fine and OK. Installation very neat, no big downloads. Hope passage to the final version will be as easy without need to uninstall or else. Cheers! ;)

Thx Vlk, i thought there is something wrong with avast! that this feature isn't working... makes sense though.
Hoping for avast! 5.x :P

Stupid question:Do I have to uninstall completely the previous version of Avast?
By the way, the way back to stable releases will be automatic too, I mean, when the stable version is released, just upgrade your beta product and voilá, you'll be back to stable one 8)

I think stable is the wrong term, this beta version and for the most part the other avast beta versions have been stable. There might well have been hiccups, etc. but for they have still been stable, I haven't had to revert to the 'current' regular release version.

So the update it to the current regular released version as opposed to stable version.

One of Avast's great strengths in terms of stability and general reliability could be summed up as:

Avast! "Beta" = many others "RC"
Avast!  "RC"....  unequalled!

The beta has now been updated to 4.7.1085.
There's a couple of improvements in the engine as well the updater itself.

Please feel free to update to it by simply invoking the program update.

Cheers

4.7.1085 is working good. :) 4.7.1083 worked good, also. :)  This is the first times I've tried avast! betas.

I've never had any problems with avast!. :)

Keep up the good work! ;D

Hi! I'm a bit less into the forum. Just upgraded to the latest beta version 1085 manually. Since my settings are to ask when there is an update, I used to be warned (green square box warning) whenever a new AVAST program version is available. This no longer seems to work... ??? Everything OK for the rest, Nov 2007 corrected (finally...!). Cheers.

It works just fine as regular program updates are cycled over a period of 7 days, to balance server load.

I don't know if that is the same for beta builds as those using the beta builds tend to follow the progress of the beta on the forums and update manually when notified on the forums.
