Pop Ups
« on: December 06, 2007, 08:08:30 AM »
Ive had a few pop ups the last couple of days... and about 2 days ago about 4 times when i was searching an odd very small window appeared in the lower right corner of my screen.  Im sure you wish I would just go away but... does this sound like i could have a problem again?
Thanks
Susie

At least, can you post here the text of the popup?

I had several more I took down this information on a couple of them
http://b.casalmedia.com
http://advertising cpxinteractive.com

I recently had that terrible bout with many many torjans so i do get nervous when things start happening that are out of the norm lately... also i had that strange small window that came up in the lower corner of my screen... its an http about a 2x2 window (if that) that does not really even go to anywhere! That worries me alot as i did get alot of those when i had the torjans!
Thank you for your help!
Susie

SpyBot-SD should be able to clean CasaleMedia adware... if you want to use some stronger weapon, you can try another tools discussed many times here ;)

Hi sassy

Please update SAS (superantispyware)

Then boot into safe mode

Open SAS and set up as follows

First update SAS Then

Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
Then click the Scanning Control tab.

Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked

CHECK ALL THE BOXES

Return to the main page by clicking close on that screen. On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer. On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.

Under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
ยท Click Next to start the scan.

When the scan is done, quarentine everything found . Reboot if asked. You can post/attach the log in your next reply if you wish.

Hi Oldman
I did run the Sas scan after i got the post from maxx. I didn't seem to have anything there to worry about but several cookies that i took care.. I did then run SAS again after your post, it only found 6 cookies and i took care of them as well. Thank you your assistance, I guess I am just still running scared after the last battle I had...I just figure if in doubt check i with you and make sure Im not getting infected again.  I have been running updates on the SAS on a regular basis and running the scan as well. Also I am getting pretty comfortable with the COMODO firewall and things seem to be running along fine with that now.. even my Cribbage rooms!  :D
Thank again for the help and the reassurance.
Take care
Sassy
