cannot change firewall setting to "trusted network"
« on: March 28, 2022, 12:35:06 PM »
hi everyone,

I'm using Avast One on a Windows 11 Laptop.
I attached my GoPro as WebCam. However, the firewall feature of Avast One is blocking the GoPro to be used.
As soon as I disable the firewall, everything works fine with the webcam.

I figured out, that the GoPro somehow is displayed as an additional network in the firewall settings.
I already changed the toggle of my private wifi at home to "trusted". Now I want to change this toggle for the "GoPro" network as well.
However, every time I click the toggle to change this from "untrusted" to "trusted", the toggle automatically jumps back, leaving this network always on "untrusted".

I also already repaired Avast One multiple times, since this fixed some other issues I previously had with this software.
This does not work for the firewall problem.

Can some help me with this?

Thanks in advance

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.

Clean Install of Avast:

If you need additional help with the Clean Install, watch this:

I personally opted to not install the firewall module in Avast and use the firewall that's part of Windows 11. (A personal Choice)

Hi,

In the firewall, under "Apps", do you have a GoPro Webcam app? Perhaps you need to unblock it otherwise try re-installing.

yes, I already granted GoPro access to the webcam. This setting was accepted by the application.

I also did now the clean deinstallation of avast one and reinstalled it.
Unfortunately, I needed to "repair" it right after the installation twice and reboot my PC in order to activate all features properly.
GoPro as a web cam is still not working, thus I needed to deactivate the Avast firewall for good and now I'm using the Windows firewall.

This is really annoying.
Buying a new product which is still that buggy and cannot use all the features.
I really hope this will be fixed with a future update.

It's taken me hours to try and figure out how to change my network to Private so I can share files on my local network, only to find out that it was Avast stopping me and it won't allow me to change my network to "Trusted". Absolutely ridiculous overreach by Avast. App removed and subscription cancelled. What a joke!

In my case, I had to change policy settings in:
https://businesshub.avast.com/policies/
under Firewall -> Networks and enable option:
"Disable the network profiles management by this console".

Avast was installed on office PC for testing software -> no risk of exposing to public networks.

Maybe it will be useful for somebody.
