REDUCING TIME TO BOOT THE COMPUTER
« on: December 08, 2007, 10:53:01 PM »
I have Vista Home Edition with Avast Home, Comodo 3 Firewall and Spyware Terminator resident protection. All these programs on start-up increase my booting time to 5-10 minutes. Is there a simple procedure to reduce it without altering too much my pc? ???

Strange... a little delay 1-2 minutes... but 10!
Are you using the SpywareTerminator antivirus incorporated? If so, why don't you try disabling it and keeping only the antispyware.
Also, you should try Startup Delayer to control the windows startup that does not follow a strict order.

Since avast! version 4.7.807 the Standard Shield has a feature called do not scan system libraries (by default on) that dramatically decrease the number of files scanned during computer boot.
The best things in life are free.

Remove unnecessary startup items, clean out junk files(CCleaner) and defrag your disk with something that also optimizes the boot files(like PerfectDisk) and you should see a noticeable improvement. What are your system specs btw ?
