Nice update. Tried on fresh install of Windows 10 1607 (build version 14393).
Completely breaks OS. Cant open start or anything else, only log out option is available. Screen becomes black, icons dissapear.

Can anyone suggest any decent alternative to Avast ?

uncheck avast ransomware shield and behaviour shield then it will work

In both cases (Avast and AVG) i checked File shield, Behavior Shield, Web Shield and Do not disturb. Ransomware wasnt checked when i installed it. So its not it

Avast Self Defense, are blocking Mouse and Keyboard of my application when windows avast are foreground.
My application is a remote access named KHelpDesk.
1. Enable debug logging (Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Enable debug logging) and reproduce the issue.
2. Follow instructions: https://support.avast.com/article/33/ and post the File-ID or name of the Support-File here afterwards.

Hello!
Sorry my delay!

Thank you!

As far as I'm aware this isn't the case (you are certainly the first to mention it that I have seen), they are probably hoping that you will jump on the opportunity and update/upgrade (which seems to be more to do with a paid version ?).

A screenshot of the notice could have been helpful.

I have been using Avast Free for over 18 years and the reason I switched to Avast Free was it's configurability.  For me the Avast One product is a dumbed down product with less configurability.  That might suit many users that don't tinker/configure, but it certainly doesn't suit me.

Dev-Info: To set expectations right, Avast One is not a replacement of the Antivirus or other Avast products. Avast One is a new product line with a distinct feature set. Pre-existing products remain available, should you prefer to keep those.

You're welcome.

Someone has to be first :)
Whilst there is a search function in the forums (also google, etc.) or scrolling the list of recent topics, it isn't easy to find if your issue has been reported.  Even then it would have to be pretty active to stay high in the list of recent topics.
