File Shield use persistent cache?
« on: May 18, 2022, 01:45:21 PM »
I read that the files that File Shield scanned can go to Persistent Cache or Transient Cache depending on what they are.

But if I set File Shield to 'Scan All Files', will it exclude files in these Caches like Full Scan does, esp. Windows system files?

Hi,

No, both caches will still be used.

What I mean is whether File Scan will save time by not scanning files already in Persistent Cache or Transient Cache?

Yes, that's correct, files present in persistent/transient cache will not be scanned again by FS shield. This applies only to FS shield.

Just to be clear, you mean File Shield will not scan files present in the persistent/transient cache? And File Shield will also automatically add files to the Persistent/Transient Cache if they're not in there.

Does the above apply to files in external hard disk which always have the same drive letter when plugged in?

Does the above apply to Avast One? I'm not sure whether Avast One has persistent/transient cache.

Already answered in your other post. (Yes) Please don't post the same question in multiple posts.
It causes confusion and leads to unanswered questions. Thanks

After posting here, I thought you may want me to post in Avast One section as it pertains to it.

But for Avast Free, does the File Shield behaviour for Persistent/Transient Cache apply to files in external hard disk which always have the same drive letter when plugged in?
