Avast's Biggest Flaw
« on: June 25, 2022, 05:58:57 AM »
The biggest flaw is the CONSTANT attempts to sell more Avast products every time I do anything with your program. Incessant marketing - it's so annoying.

All of those "Resolve Now" issues (which by resolve you mean buy more Avast products) are so tiring. Especially when the "issues" and "vulnerabilities" are fiction.

What I mean is, a lot of the time Avast is trying to sell me a totally useless product, for "vulnerabilities" which don't exist.

For example, the fact your software tells me my "IP address is visible, my ISP is collecting my data, and some uber l33t hacker is about to get me, rah rah rah," but for the small fee of 47.88$ I can get Avast VPN and be protected, right?

Except I've got a VPN. So I click "No," then I get hit with another pop-up, "Try Free for 60 Days" - right after you enter your credit card details. Dude, you're killing me.

Oh yeah, and the shameless "You're Computer Is Full of Trackers" blah blah blah pay us another 50$. You know what I do instead? Firefox -> extensions -> ublock origin, privacy badger, facebook container, duckduck go privacy essentials. No trackers, no money spent.

I understand the need to make money for providing a service. I have subscriptions to two different Avast products. That's all good. But trying to sell people on some B.S. EVERY TIME your software does ANYTHING at all is so annoying.
