Huge log file 170GB
« on: July 05, 2022, 06:09:14 PM »
Hi, huge eternal thanks to the Avast team for making such a damn brilliant antivirus. Long time user here.

Today I was using File Shredder to clear an old HDD (shredding ~10 gigabytes). I think it was during this time that Avast generated a 170 gigabyte log file with the following file path: C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\log\oops.bxlog

I'm using Avast One; and I downloaded it around 23rd June 2022 - it had the latest virus definitions but the software version/build would've related to that original download date.

PC is a ThinkPad x390 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 19042).

I have 10GB of SSD space left - am I safe to delete the huge log file? How do I find out what happened, and how to avoid it happening again? Thanks in advance for any help.
