How to remove "Avast safe" from Gmail
« on: July 06, 2022, 09:43:55 AM »
I've decided I don't want to continue using Avast Essentials and I have uninstalled all components, but I can't get rid of the "Avast safe" label that keeps being applied to my incoming Gmails. I have turned off the permission in Gmail that I had to enable when setting up the new e-mail feature in Avast. I have tried running the Avast stand alone uninstaller, deleted the label from Gmail when accessing it via my web browser, deleting if from within my e-mail client software (eM Mail), but still it keeps adding the avast label to my incoming e-mails. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this please?

just a guess but maybe you should of removed/deleted the email account from the gaurdian before removing the software.

im getting one email that is moved to the gaurdian folder as suspicious even though its safe and ive been receiving this newsletter from a safe site for over 7 years but cant find out how to change the false/positive so it goes to my inbox.

Would be really helpful to get the answer from Avast, for after your license has expired. It must be possible and known by them?!

Did you use the removal tool when you un-installed Avast?

Uninstall Avast
Download the Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility

Uninstall Avast via the control panel and follow the directions.
Run the Uninstall Utility and accept the reboot to safe mode
Once complete reboot your system.
A video to help you use the Avast Uninstall Utility is available at https://youtu.be/KD8LO8OxmvM

I did not, I dont think. I reinstalled the free version in case I needed to, shall run this tool now and see if it works. Thing is, my license lapsed (moved to another provider) so if only possible with the premium version, then this wont make any diff i'm sure - thoughts encouraged (please!).

The uninstall-utility should work across all versions.

Also is this Avast Antivirus Free or Avast One Essentials (free) that you subsequently installed  ?

I use Avast Free Antivirus and I don't have it check/download my Gmail email.  I pretty much let Google take care of (spam, etc.) that and browse my Gmail via my browser
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

The uninstall utility works across all version. You select the version that was/is installed on your system.
It should be run for all version that you had installed. Just follow the directions.

I had the same issue but I did what this person said. Reinstall Avast mobile and remove your email from the guardian list. You even receive a message from Avast confirming the disabled label.

Go to your google account->settings->security
Under the “Third-party apps & services” you can cancel the connection 😌
