Web Filters and Avast Updates
« on: December 14, 2007, 12:25:32 AM »
Hi, I'm using Bluecoat K9 web filter.  Can you please tell me the exact sites to enter into the filter to allow all the Avast updates including virus definitions and software updates?

Thank you.

If you open the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\servers.def file with notepad you will see a list of the current download servers, this file is periodically updated as more servers are added. There are currently 159 of them.

I don't know if simply allowing avast.com in the K9 filter would be enough to avoid having to put in every server.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

You don't have to change anything into K9 to allow avast updates.
Are you using the default K9 settings or custom level? If so, can you post a screenshot of the blocked categories of K9 for me to compare with mine?
