Application Rules in Firewall settings?
« on: July 16, 2022, 10:45:41 AM »
Hi All,
Info:
Avast Premium Security 22.7.6024 (build 22.7.7383.528
UI version 1.0.718
***************
I have been looking at the Application Rules Settings,
and trying to work out the logic of why they are laid out like they are.
As an example:
If the Default Rule is set to Allow Direction In/Out
Then why give the option of: Internet Out (Allow) Internet In (Allow)?
Also, you see only internet out (Allow) but when you look at the default rule
It lists In/Out.
I find this most confusion! Any explanation would be grateful.
Please see screenshot for clarification.
Thank You.

Same here.
Also, OP, are you finding that rule changes do not stay?
If I click the slider to disable the default rule at the bottom, it comes back on later.

If you change the default rule action to block - it would work like you want, only traffic specified by the rules above it will be allowed.
