Avast Secure Browser... killing RAM
« on: August 23, 2022, 05:42:59 PM »
Would anyone explain me why for the god sake Avast Secure Browser run so many processess, and every single one of them suck memory like best hooker on the street? It happen for me from ~2 weeks... well take a look:

not even single window with Secure Browser used  = 14 processes running all the time.
I'm unable to kill these processes because they are protected... and before any smartass say "it's because your browser start runing with windows... nope, it's not... in options I set it to stay down and wait for me... guess secure browser  not care and that option mean nothing to it...:

Now good people, tell me please what to do to fix that...

Hello tuldor88,

I'm very sorry for the investigation taking so long, my colleagues are trying to reproduce the issue on the same setup and will come back with some further information soon. Since we don't have any similar cases registered it may take some time to figure it out.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter.

Sandu

Hello tuldor88,

No worries, topic is outdated - found my solution in 3 steps:
1) hit 'uninstall' on avast browser
2) install opera instead
3) be happy
and... it really worked!

So no need to rush and thanks for trying ;)

Problem solved. Now enjoy sharing your info with China. :)
Maybe you didn't know, Opera is owned by a Chinese consortium.

Chrome web browsers spawn a lot of processes in order to achieve greater process isolation and so enhance security. It's been happening for many years. Avast Secure Browser doesn't seem to me to run with an excessive number of processes.
