I have just seen that Avast has renewed my premium security subscription nearly a year ago and charged me 66,99 euros without notifying me at all of the renewal or charge. I bought a very discounted, two-year deal in 2019 and hadn't even remembered to check when that expires, until now I get an email saying they will renew it and as I go to cancel this, I can see that they have renewed it almos a year ago and charged me without any notification or consent. THIS IS ILLEGAL. I don't check my bank statements regularly and completely missed this. I have just been in touch with customer service that was not helpful at all. Said in the end I will be contacted via email, when I had asked about 10 times how to take this further.

Any experiences of this and what can I do to take this further?

Hi,

We always notify you about all subscription payments in advance by email. The user Subscription Auto Renewal event was sent to m***********n@gmail.com 10/16/21
In most Avast products, your subscription details (including your next billing date) are visible via ☰ Menu ▸ My Subscriptions.

Each subscription is continuous; at the end of the selected period for which you are paying, we will automatically charge your stored payment information the undiscounted price then in effect (which may have changed), plus tax, for each additional payment period (of the same length) until you cancel (as explained in our Cancellation Policy https://www.avast.com/en-eu/cancellation-refund-policy).

I can see that you have already contacted us for a refund. Our sales support team will get back to you.

I have checked, and have received no emails from you about the renewal or charge. Also, can you please not share my email address here for everyone to see? Even if few letters are missing, it's recognizable, if you speak the language. Please delete it.

The exact thing happened to me today. I got a notification from Paypal that I've been charged 72,99€ for a subscribtion. I've totally forgot about it, since I've bought it in 2019. I found the email, in the terms it says they will send at least one email prior to renewal, but I got none. Searched the spam folder and the inbox. All I have got are promotion offers, not a single email about a renewal.
