Network Inspector wrongly detects MITM attack
« on: February 12, 2023, 05:42:45 PM »
See below emails regarding issue.  Unfortunately I finally received Avast's response after following the only online advice they give which is to buy a new router if there's no firmware update for your current router.  So now I'm out the expense of an unnecessary new router plus all the time I spent resetting then replacing my old router.

Hello David,

Thanks for the reply and for the provided screenshot.

I understand your concerns. To clarify, we have recently discovered an issue with the Network Inspector feature in Avast One on Android. It detects Man-in-the-middle vulnerability each time when the scan runs. We're working on the fix, and we'll release a hotfix version that will clear the issue.

If needed, I can keep your case on hold and notify you when this is resolved.

Feel free to reach out in case you have any other questions or concerns. I'll be happy to help.

Sincerely,

Ivan

Attached are 2 screenprints showing the app alerts.  I'm also attaching screenprints of the 2 messages I have already submitted to date regarding this matter, so we have a complete email trail.

I'm suspecting this is some kind of false positive due to a bug in the app.
