Windows Live suddenly stopped working
« on: September 15, 2022, 05:54:06 PM »
Today I got this error message from Windows Live while checking for new emails:
error code: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
(SSL): Yes

Suspecting AVAST might be the culprit I went to Menu > Options , searched for geek:area and unchecked "Mail shield: scan SSL connections".
Now Live works again, but AVAST won't scan any emails , since SSL is disabled.

Is there a way to fix this?

My Avast was last updated on August 19th (ver 22.8.6030)

I'm on Windows 7 x64.

I am having the same exact problem. OS is Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail 2011. I also disabled the email scanning in Avast for both inbound and outbound and emails are working again. I enable the shields and it stops working. This stopped working around the end of August 2022 for me. Any insight as to what is causing this issue will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds similar to this issue: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=320948.0

Update Avast to the latest version.
