Avast suddenly do not let Thunderbird IMAP email acces
« on: September 16, 2022, 03:19:21 PM »
Hello,

just today started the problem suddenly, Avast is not allowing Thunderbird to make an IMAP connection.

Thunderbird will not connect to the emails: "Unable to connect to your imap server. you may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so, use the Advanced IMAP Server settings dialogue to reduce the number of cached connections."

I tried a lot of things that are on the forums, like upload a new "mailshield" certificate, but Thunderbird says that I already have that installed. Also tried to reduce the number of cached connections to 1 with no luck

The only way that Thunderbird works as till yesterday is disabling "Mail Shield" from Avast. As I did not need to do that for the last two years that I have been using Thunderbird and Avast together, I am wondering what went wrong and if there is any solution appart from disabling Avast "Mail Shield"

any ideas?
thank you
