Avast Premium Security & Quicken for Windows
« on: September 19, 2022, 05:10:06 AM »
Today Avast started detecting issues when I start Quicken for Windows.
Detects Quicken as a threat when it accesses Windows file.
"Threat secured" We've secured rundll32.exe [14152] because it was infected with Win32-Malware-gen".
Then when Quicken try's again to open "Run time Error"

Has a ticket been been created for this? Followed you from Quicken forum.

Brand new install coming from a WIndows 10 VM, it had malwarebytes. Did new laptop install with Avast and as soon as a NEW QUicken for Windows was installed and launched, got the same error. DIsabiling Avast and relaunching did allow the program to load. I did get a popup for firewall to allow it to internet.

Have you submitted a suspected False Positive Form to Avast using this: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php

You can refer the dev's to this forum thread.

Just sent the information to avast as a false positive.
I'm looking at Quicken to fix this bug

The threat is being detected by Avast Anti-exploit shield.
If this is turned off then the error stops when starting Quicken for Windows

Same issue. It's definitely Avast, if I uninstall/reinstall Quicken I get the same issue but if I disable the Avast shields there are no problems. When the shields are back on it causes the errors again.
I've updated Avast and the definitions and the issue still persists. Quicken is adamant that this is Avast's problem and will not assist if you call them

Avast:
Looks like you may have rolled back the fix when the new program version was released today.
THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED!

I had this problem on 2 machines.  Avast One on W11 & Avast Free on W10.  Just ran the latest Avast program update on both machines & it resolved for me.  :)
22.9.6034  22.9.7554.734

I resubmitted the issues yesterday afternoon.
This came in today at 7:20 am est from Support
"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Avast and reporting a false positive file detection. I'm happy to help.

The reported file was checked by Avast virus specialists and based on the findings the detection was removed. The file is now marked as clean in the Avast virus database. This change may take up to 24 hours to take full effect. Please accept my apology for the inconvenience caused.

If the detection persists after 24 hours, please update the Avast virus database and reply to this email with attached files:
1.   Take a screenshot of the Avast detection dialog (Threat Secured pop-up with See details - displayed at the bottom).
2.   A screenshot of the Avast virus database (open Avast Antivirus and go to Menu > About).
I hope you have a nice day, and stay safe online."
