PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR on website
« on: October 26, 2022, 06:30:37 PM »
I get "PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR" when trying to connect to "https://my.ochsner.org/prd/Authentication/Login?".  Happens on both firefox and chrome, but works on both after I "Disable shields for 10 minutes".  Is this an antivirus issue, or website, or something else?  Should I add an exception (don't really want to) for this url?

Hi,

Can you please try the following?
Disable HTTPS scanning in Web Shield settings. https://support.avast.com/article/use-antivirus-https-scan/#pc
Restart the web browser and see if you can access the website.

Yes, that worked, in both firefox and chrome.  Can I leave it that way, or is some other action needed?

I don't know if it's related, but for those who use avast, there are a number of access problems to certain sites that have been identified over the last two weeks and that are solved by disabling the HTTPS scanning.
(nevertheless, it seems that it is especially for users of the latest versions of firefox)

for firefox, an alternative to disabling https scanning is to change the value "network.http.http3.enabled" to "false" in about:config

it may not be quite the case here but it may be worth a try. Sorry if I'm HS :-[

Here's one more data point; probably not related to virus protection, but happened at about the same time.  I can't log in to Chase.com with Firefox.  The site redirects me to a browser download page.  I download Firefox, install it, try it, and it works.  Close and re-open the browser and it redirects me to the browser download page, same as before.

This only happens on this site, and, Chrome works fine.  I contacted Chase technical support.  They say it's failing on minimum browser version, which is 91.6.  My browser version is 106.0.2 (64 bit).  They claim they've been hearing about issues with Firefox, but the problem is not on their end, and I should contact my computer vendor.  Hmm, sounds fishy.  I'm guessing their error handler redirects to the same page, no matter what error happens, but that's just my guess.

Normal login url:
https://secure01a.chase.com/web/auth/dashboard#/dashboard/index/index

Redirect to browser download page:
