You don't say what Avast version number and build number that you have  ?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Recently, when I go to scan, it shows NEVER"
Do you mean it doesn't start (if scheduled) or show that you have never run this scan or something else ?
When did this problem start (after a program update or something new on your computer) ?

As an aside:
Has avast ever found anything on these weekly scans  ?

The reason I ask is avast is a resident antivirus so it will scan all active executable/compressed files as they are executed or extracted.  Because of this on-demand scan on a resident, active antivirus are much depreciated.  The greatest majority of files scanned in on-demand scans are inert or dormant, so don't present an immediate risk.

That said if you want to run an on-demand scan it should work:
Have you tried an Avast Repair ?
AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > APP Repair - Restart after completion.
