« on: December 21, 2007, 01:23:04 PM »
Hi malware fighters,

Virusscanners offer less protection than a year ago, according to a study:
http://www.heise-security.co.uk/news/100900

Only Nod32 scored average with an overall result of 68% found.
Also the number of FP's by various av-products increased,

As being an old user here in avast forums I can say by myself that we love to talk, say what we're thinking, and why...
Making people just guess what is the meaning of other ones' posts don't help in forums.

"Statistical measure"... Wow.. Trying to impress people huh?

Given that the article is talking about overall average score. The "statistical measure" is of course the mean... And yes we are talking about the variance of the mean scores. Some years it goes up, some years it goes down... But then again the article only looks at one year's difference lol...

I have to confess the hard data analysis that supports this statement wasn't done by me, but it looks sound to me.

Yes. Not a software is perfect, just that avast is becoming better, nothing more.

So therefore you can produce no evidence that the difference is "not significant": just one of your usual facile comments.

I can post the url with the analysis. But is that enough? How about i run the analysis myself with SPSS? it is a waste of time, but I can already tell you the result....

Forgive me if I'd rather see the result, not that I don't take your word for it.  ;)
