From reading the forums, Avast One seems even more broken than regular Avast.

If Avast (Free) continues to exist, it isn't an update. Will Avast One become the new Avast regular?

From reading the forums, Avast One seems even more broken than regular Avast.

I don't think that is particularly unusual in any new product, given the diverse systems it might be installed on.  From what I have seen in the forums it is the Email Guardian that is giving the most trouble.  That said, not using Avast One I don't get to involved in the Avast One sub forum.

If Avast (Free) continues to exist, it isn't an update.

Well Avast might consider an upgrade - personally I don't - outside of the basic antivirus tools, much of what is in it I don't need or want  Even in Avast Antivirus I haven't got all of the shields installed, there are even more in Avast One.  I'm also not sure if Avast One is anywhere close to avast antivirus for configurability.

Will Avast One become the new Avast regular?

As I said:
"Previously (when Avast One was released) Avast have said that Avast One isn't a replacement for Avast Antivirus, they are two different products."

I guess only time will tell, but I'm sure they will continue to push it.

All the more curious that it gets pushed so hard via popup. And presented as an update for regular Avast. Which it isn't.

An upgrade it also isn't, with limited capabilities and plenty of bugs. Maybe the basic functionality is more stable, but then what's the point of changing over from Avast Free...

I haven't seen any popup requesting a change to Avast One (Essential).

It had an option to 'not show again', which I checked. So I won't be able to save a screenshot.

Hi,
  • New Smartscan Step We’ve added a whole new step to check your operating system settings for any security issues.
Where can we find this?
I ran the smartscan and I don't see any additional steps or references (in the existing steps) to checking my operating system.

Is there any answer to this? Surely 10+ days should be
long enough for the Avast techs to find where they put it?

I recently updated AVG to 22.10 and it announces the
same feature added. But I haven't seen any evidence of
it anywhere. Not in a Smart Scan, not in Settings,
not in Geek Area, etc.

Links are bad. They are leading to the latest version, not 22.10

What links - what version ?

There is a new topic related to Avast One 22.11 in the Avast One sub-forum  So I can only assume (dangerous I know) that 22.11 for Avast Antivirus has also been released and a new topic has yet to be created.
