My WIN7 has completely crashed and cannot enter the system.
Just reinstall.
Now, as long as AVAST is installed on the new system, it will keep repeating "Startup Repair" and cannot enter the system. It is impossible to see where the problem is.

Hello, we have already identified the problem. Our drivers have new authenticode signature (using sha256 hashing), which is not recognized on non-updated Windows 7 32 bit systems. This update is required: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=kb4474419. The problem applies only to Windows 7 32 bit. For Windows 7 64 bit, there is already block implemented in our installer, which prevents delivery of new versions on non-updated Windows 7 64.

Thank you

You identified the problem, but how to install the update for 32 bit system on something it didn't work?
The laptop it is not booting, safe mod cannot be accesed, can't do anything. Recovery tool didn't work. Format it is not an option because I'll lose all data on C! What can I do?

Avast F'd up in testing. But also: the problem is not having an update for Windows 7 from 2019. So 3 years ago. A little blame has to go to both ways here.

This doesn't do you any good now, but incidents like these are why you make regular backups.

Someday it will come in handy for someone. To start Windpws7 32bit, you need to press F8, then select the option to disable digital signature verification. Windows will boot up.

Thank you Денис18! It worked! But the problem is that all programs (included Windows) are not genuine now. If I open normal the laptop, without pressing F8 and disable digital signature verification, it enter again in Startup Repair.

My question, for the Avast developers, it is how to delete this last update version. Or must remove Avast and then download a fresh copy (but without last update)? But this operation will resolve the boot problem?

I think this is a serious problem and Avast Team must publish a step-by-step method to resolve it.

Glad I could help. After running with digital signature verification disabled, I installed the microsoft update from here https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=kb4474419
Now the computer works as before.

There are 9 items in list. Which one you installed?

The last one. This only affects Windows 7 32-bit (x86). And then only because an update from 3 years ago is missing.

I have Windows 7 SP1, 64, Pro. I recently tried to update Avast in November. Before that, it was updated in October, everything worked well. After the update in November, the keyboard stopped working. The Num indicator glowed, but when pressing the "Num Lock" key, the indicator did not turn off, when pressing the "Caps Lock" the indicator did not turn on, I tried to type text in notepad - nothing was printed.
After the update, there was a red cross on the Avast notification icon in the taskbar - you are not protected. The security screens were all on. I wanted to turn it off, then turn it on, hoping it might get better. They didn't turn off. Clicking on the Avast notification icon in the taskbar opened a dark window without labels. Rebooted. I tried to restore Avast, nothing changed.
I didn't have any system restore points. Deleted Avast - the keyboard is working.
Installed a new Avast from the July installation file. Avast is working, the keyboard is working. I tried to update again, the same picture - You are not protected, the keyboard did not work. Here I have already returned to the system restore point, this time before updating Avast I created a system restore point.
But Avast is old, not updated. Will it not be updated on the Seven, or will the problem be fixed?

Hello,

The new version of Avast crashes with windows7.

Please can you fix the program update problem?
Thanks in advance.

Just throwing this out there, been dealing with this since 12/2...three Windows 10 Pro PCs (so far) updated to 22.11.6041 loooong boot times, results in crashes with explorer restarting multiple times, 100% disk usage, systems unusable. Uninstalled.

Do you realise that the offline installer for Avast Free 22.11 is in fact for Avast Free 22.12.  I wasted 2 hours before realising this crass mistake when I wanted to reinstall Avast Free 22.11 because 22.12 disabled Avast Secure Browser.

They are the SAME files.   I thought that someone would have the sense to recognise the potential for confusion.

It has been known for ages that avast only offers one online and one offline version for download... the latter.
For example if you want to find today the 21.6, you will download (on the avast site) the 22.12 version
Whether you like it or not (most of us), this is avast's decision. :-[
It has often been recommended here to download the version number to your hard drive at the time of release if you want to roll back.
For  avast free, old versions can be found on third party sites (at your own risk) but not at avast.
