Does Avast Free actually do anything?
« on: November 22, 2022, 05:03:21 AM »
I'm curious whether Avast Free actually DOES ANYTHING? Seems to me like every notification about an issue then takes you to a page trying to suck some money out of you, force you to buy some other product to address the issue that the software apparently has found, seems like a scam to me.

The short answer is, Yes it does, you only have to check this forum to see.  If you have a paid version of avast, you have more control over that.

The Free version will promote other Avast paid products, the cost of free ;)

I have been avast free antivirus for over 18 years, I gust smile and have an inward chuckle at some of them.
I don't run on-demand scans or the smart scan, in an on-access antivirus this is much depreciated and these are likely to show promotions for paid products.
