I have worked out the answer to this question.  I added Avast Secure Browser to the list of MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit's Shields and found that MBAE did not show the shield in its log.  I therefore assume that Avast Secure Browser resisted MBAE's attempts to hook.  I am not surprised at this and am also pleased to see Avast Secure Browser protecting itself.

Nice one, Avast.

Thanks for the update.

Although I personally don't use ASB it is good to hear.

Hi David.  I have good confidence in Avast Secure Browser. I have also found that I can obtain extensions from Google and have installed Netcraft and Malwarebytes Browser Guard.

The Netcraft extension is included because it guards against XSS attacks.

The provenances of these two extensions are very reputable.  I have used them in combination for several years.

I'm not sure I would even consider adding Malwarebytes Browser Guard to ASB.  For me it is the two dogs and one bone scenario and could they fight.  Given that you also have the Web Shield, is this just a step to far ?

Which/what extra files are you talking about  ?
Is this related to the Avast Secure Browser, which is the sub-forum topic that you have posted in  ?

I have been using MBAE since 2013 and have not observed any conflicts with Avast Web Shield over the past 9 years.

Avast Secure Browser is a bit ticklish to setup and it took a while to get it working properly.  I only use it in Bank Mode.

Only problem in setting up when you requires specialized settings.
For the average user, installation and usage is easy and problem free.

My comment relating to "Given that you also have the Web Shield, is this just a step to far"
This backs up the ASB and web browsing in general regardless of browser choice, so why add another dog to the party.

Ho Bpb.  I guess I'm much too fussy about the behaviour of software.  Anyway, it's working great and I'm very grateful to Avast for providing this protection for my online banking.  When it is in Bank Mode, it seems to put very strong protection around itself because it is impossible to interact with anything else on the system until after exiting Bank Mode.
