That's indeed a bug, definitely not intentional.
Hi,
for info the bank mode came back to me following the avast update (22.12.6044 (version 22.12.7758.768)) last night....without ASB being my default browser  ;)
Thanks  :D
Thanks for the reminder and bank mode problem has been fixed as Bob said above

I am facing an unusual issue with Google websites on Firefox 108.0.2 (64-bit) since Avast's 12/22 update; all Google websites are throttled or completely blocked because of Avast Free Antivirus Web Shield.

What I tried:
1-Opening FF in troubleshooting mode.
2-Using another profile with FF.
3-Refreshed FF installation.
4-Uninstalled then reinstalled Avast Free AV.
5-Used Avast Clear Clear to uninstall then reinstalled.
6- Added exception for FF in the Exception section.
7- Added an Allow-All rule in Avast Firewall for FF.
8- Disabled Avast Web Shield (WORKED)

Note: All Google websites work seamlessly on Google Chrome.

EDIT: Here's a link of a video https://streamable.com/z5k1e7

@  Rofi
Firefox is my default browser (version 108.0.2) and I'm not experiencing the problem you mention.  I don't use the Avast Firewall but the Windows Firewall, you could try that.

The reason I suggest this is, the Web Shield shouldn't block as such, but alert is that what is happening  ?

Many people won't visit unknown 3rd party content.  I did and in all honesty it doesn't help other than show your browsing habits (which may have their own issues.

I'm keeping up to date with the ongoing Ukrainian war and I don't have any issues browsing with Firefox on you tube, tictoc, redit, etc. etc.
Most of the issues here relate to the Avast Secure Browser (Chromium based browser) relating to Bank Mode.

So I don't know if it wouldn't be better to create a new topic for your issue, as it may get buried in this topic.

I tried disabling Avast Firewall, but the problem persisted.
I don't get any alerts when I face the issue described in my post. As you can see in the video; the moment I disable the web shield Google web sites instantly load.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will make a new thread instead.

Unfortunately, I didn't find the video of any help.  Certainly not to try and investigate why you are experiencing the problem, when essentially with the same setup I'm not experiencing any issue.

Apparently. I found a solution. I changed my DNS server from Google's 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4 to my ISP's and viola; all Google websites load normally after a system reboot.

If you are still interested, you can try to reproduce the problem using Google's DNS servers mentioned above.

Thanks for trying to help.  :-*

In the new release (the next one that will be published or the following ones) is there a "reduction" of the use of the harddisk (not the solid one) during the PC startup phase?
This optimization should be done. ;)
Thank you and good day!

Would you care to clarify as the above comment "is there a "reduction" of the use of the harddisk (not the solid one)  ?
Do you mean HDD or SSD and by reduction do you mean total space required for installation as it isn't clear what you are asking.  As 'During Startup' doesn't really go with any of the above, as during startup Avast should be monitoring computer usage which shouldn't require additional drive space other than for logs.  Scanning if extraction is required may/could be done in RAM.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear.  :)
I was talking about HDD and I meant the Avast processes that are running, using a high percentage of hard disk during the PC startup phase.
Thank you and good day!

I honestly don't know how running processes are using a high percentage/usage of HDD 'space' and you don't say what processes.

Unless these are update processes, program updates, virus definitions and engine updates or Emergency updates.  Then much of the activity may occur in memory.

I feel that this would probably be better served in its own new topic.

I think that has already been tried.

Then it would probably have been better to post in in the original topic.

But since January is almost over, will the official February version(23.2.xxx) arrive directly?
