Avast crashes and can't redownload
« on: December 31, 2022, 07:40:01 AM »
I've been using Avast One for a long time, and it recently stopped working. All I know is I woke up the next day and the hidden icon had the red x on it. I hadn't disabled the shields, so I thought it just need an update. I got a crash screen instead, which I have never seen before. I selected the option to restart the antivirus, but it told me to restart my computer. I did that and made sure the internet was on, but I didn't work. I went to uninstall and try it and it gave me the repair option, so I selected it. It didn't work either, even when it said everything was fixed. I uninstalled it and decided I reinstall. I waited for Avast to redownload, but it just randomly stopped downloading with no warning. There was no pop up message or anything. I tried different installers, I tried opening it as an administrator, I even tried the original Avast Free Antivirus, but the same thing would happen. I also noticed that when the installation randomly stops, the installer appears on the desktop for some reason, even though it was originally within the downloads folder. I'm not fully sure when but after trying to reinstall it over and over, it seemed to have fully download. But I still got the "Avast has crashed" message anyway. I'm not sure what to do. On top of this, my computer has begone to run slower and loads at times (along with some executables not able to run sometimes), so maybe that has something to do with it. I could use some help figuring this out since it just stopped working without any explanation.

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.
