Cannot connect a Canon Mx532 printer to my network.

Cannot connect a Canon Mx532 printer to my network either wirelessly or wired directly from printer to Lenovo laptop.
How can I ensure Avast is not blocking the device?

Most likely it is.  I have the same issue with my Cannon TR8620.  Temporarily turn off the VPN and you should be able to connect.  I've been in touch with tech support but they have no solutions.  Unfortunately everytime you have to print, you will have to temporarily turn off the VPN.

So after 4 weeks "Avast’s senior support team" finally contacted me by email with a solution.  The solution actually did work so if anyone has a similar issue, go to the article at the following link:
