I spent most of last year trying Avast Free and occasionally Avast One, both stable and beta, and found that the Firewall caused many problems.

I uninstalled Avast Free's Firewall component because it caused these problems in Windows 10. They are still not fixed in this beta.

1. Avast Free and One both once caused Windows to not recognize my Windows User Profile. I had to uninstall them in Safe Mode for Windows to recognize and let me log in.

2. When plugging in a USB external hard disk, the Firewall made it into a thumbdrive or flash drive without Recycle Bin. After Firewall uninstalled, problem solved. I mentioned this many times but it is still not fixed.

3. Firewall Network Rules are sometimes changed by Avast, or cause problems by themselves. If changed, restoring saved firewall settings will fail. As Norton bought over Avast, why not just use Norton AV's firewall rules which are problem free for many years instead of creating rules by trial and error.

4. With Firewall installed, the UI tends to hang or slow down the computer. Without Firewall, the UI is fast and stable.

Also, I mentioned earlier that in the Geek area, the no. of days to clear Scan History doesn't work. You took the easy way out and removed the feature and left the 'Perform' button to manually clear. Why not put this button in 'Scan History' page for easy access?

I updated through the UI without issue. :)
