Avast free antivirus aborts connection from a site i didnt open
« on: February 02, 2023, 02:36:55 PM »
In the past 10 days, every day i keep getting this message from Avast free Antivirus:

THREAT SECURED

We safely aborted connection on popcorntime-update.xyz because it was infected with URL:Blacklist

The problem is that i never opened this site. I use Google chrome so i reset my browser and i disabled the feature  "Preload pages for faster browsing and searching". I also blocked this site from the "Block Site" extention from google chrome.

I runned Smart Scan and avast finds nothing but after all that i keep getting this message

From site check i am getting this:

It might not be your browser but some other software trying to connect to that url. Probably Popcorn Time.

Run a second opinion scan with Hitman Pro or Norton Power Eraser.
Thank you and good day!

Did you properly uninstall it? Maybe an updater / update service is still present and active. If so remove it. It could be it has been connecting to this url for years but only now it is on a blacklist you're getting alerts.
