Could only reach the forums changing my DNS

The only way I could get the forum up was to flushDNS. As suggested here: https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/forum.avast.com.html

But how many users are thinking support website is down so is avast down and out maybe?

Not good. If a sceptic, I would be thinking it a ploy by new owners Norton.

I didn't change dns, as nothing was wrong on my computer and did to long at my work and ask to friend to try it and the only one that could reach the forum dit it at work always connected into a VPN

Is avast TK are really on new with such problem which impact a lot of people from all over the world

Unfortunately many don't have a VPN service.  So we are constantly flip flopping DNS and browser restarts just to connect to the forums.

Personally I don't feel the need for a VPN as I'm not visiting anywhere that would necessitate the need hid it.

First time I could log on on Android. Did Avast on Akamai had cert. issues?
What made it so difficult for users in Europe to sign-in?

Why doesn't an admin react to questions? Was Avast under attack?

One would expect an answer, but I understand they would not like to make attackers any the wiser

If it isn't tough enough getting on the forums, it can load at snails pace at times.

I managed to get back on so looked for new topic or ones I had posted in and it was like some artist was at work physically redrawing the pages.

OK I managed to get in contact with a long serving Avast Team member and mentioned this problem.

They weren't sure who would be responsible for this area but would try to find out. 
Further info, it was thought it might be related to the forum firewall configuration.
And further info that the problem may be fixed...

We will have to wait and see if this is completely fixed, my fingers are firmly crossed.

It seems working fine without using vpn

Connexion is good, the worst is missing communication from avast

We all whish that no more problem like this will happen.

Ive had similar for days.
even turned nord vpn off thinking it could be that. changing countries when on didnt help.

strangely every time i checked the link on "is it down right now" it showed as reachable and online with no issues.

different error code every time i tried.

at least its back......for now.

@MrDJ Yes those error messages have been frequent during the last few days, including this morning in UK. Same has been seen on different browsers and different devices.
I am in now but wonder how long this session lasts. Yesterday I could hardly finish typing a reply before getting one of those error messages, and flushing dns had no effect.
It would be good if Avast staff member would at least acknowledge the issue, even if they don't wish to give out the reason or cause.

The initial problem having to flip-flop DNS settings, restart browser, etc to get back on.  If so then I would suggest you revert to your usual settings.

Is this when you try to connect directly or when you use a site checking function like downforeveryoneorjustme.com, previously this too would be reporting forum.avast.com is down, but not now.

It's great you managed to get ahold of someone, but it's insane that this is how you had to alert Avast. This reeks of negligence.

Also; that's a lot of maybes and there doesn't seem to be a protocol for this situation. It really looks more and more like the forum is just an afterthought with no one in charge.
