Start Scan > Scan stops at 0% > PID 0

When I attempt to run a FULL VIRUS SCAN, the scan begins and stops immediately at 0%.  The file shown at the stop point is PID 0.  I have uninstalled and re-installed the program with no fix.  I have also disabled SELF DEFENSE but this does not help.  I can run targeted scans with no problem.  I can run Windows Security scan with no problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

can take a few seconds or minues (depending on computer speed) to start.
its advised to only have 1 AV on pc. as you mention windows security scan have you got that running in background as well?
could be conflict between the two.
