Sorry to say, but after running the Avast SS with the MS screen passworded, I could not reproduce your problem.

I could get the screen to "hold" for awhile when I added in very large zip files, but could not get it to freeze.  I was also able to "suspend" the SS movement by lowering the "speed setting".

Check your "speed setting" for the screensaver.  As an afterthought, if the setting is really low (slow) and the scan hits a large file, then it could appear to "freeze".

Hi Guys,

I appreciate your work on this problem. I'm running WIN 98 SE. Have turned off password protection, but I really don't want to be without this on a permanent basis. I've also changed to a less thorough scan. I'll see how this works, and get back to you.

I also had a thought about how the scan might be affected by password protected files.
