« on: March 16, 2023, 01:29:36 PM »
Hi everyone,

there is a new beta version ready - 23.3.6055 (build 23.3.7996).

What is new
There is a new CEF version used in AV UI, please report any issue with the UI stability.

What was fixed
Fixed issue where Support Tool package was not created in correct folder.
Shred the remains of already deleted files now works also for older FAT file systems.
Fixed issue with excessive HDD usage after PC boot, special thanks to users Nunzio77 and _Mamide_ for reporting the issue and providing the support packages. Without your help we would not be able to fix this problem. Please check with this new version and let us know if it was resolved for you. Thank you very much.

Known issues
You may experience the UI crash related to the switch to the new CEF version.

Please, what issue are you referencing too? If this is the case:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=321775.msg1701523#msg1701523

then this it's something else. According to the performance recording from you, the higher disk load seems to be caused by starting AvastUI process (and loading it's chromium based user interface). Unfortunately there it not much we can do with this at this moment, but I hope it's not happening with every reboot and also, it should be isolated only to Avast UI launch.

Thank you.

Yes the load is caused by Avast Launch because i isolate the process and starts avast after all system processes are loaded to help you in your investigation.

Do you notice difference in this log and the previous log ?

There is a little improvement with this beta, i mean avast doesn't use HDD for long time compared to before.

I noticed that when i start Avast services with internet .... it reads more files than "offline" (even if i have update check disabled).

but I hope it's not happening with every reboot and also, it should be isolated only to Avast UI launch.

It happens every reboot without exception and with the same routine ...

Do you think it is the normal behaviour of Avast ??

Thanks for your help.

How do I install the beta version?
Just download and install it on the current version you have on your PC?
Thank you and good day!

When will it become official version?
I wait for the automatic update ... I don't want to install everything on a version already present on the PC.
Thank you and good day!

With version 23.3 the problem seems to have been solved. Now after starting the PC the use of the HDD by Avast is max 80%/90% for about 1 or 2 minutes maximum. Which is acceptable since the PC is old. Thanks to the Avast team for fixing this annoying issue.
So I went back to using Avast Free again.
It would be nice now to remove the nagware from the free version.. so in my opinion they are useless.
Thank you and good day!
