Is HTTPS SCANNING system wide or only web-browser feature?

Hello, I read that Avast has a HTTPS scanning feature. Can you confirm if it is going to protect my web-browser or it will scan all HTTPS connections even from non-web-browsers applications.

Please, provide reference.

If you make a connection to the internet using HTTP or HTTPS then the Web Shield should scan it.

So what are these non-web-browsers applications, that you speak of ?
