Will sale of 2 year activation override my existing account

I received an email regarding a sale for a year contract. It's a great sale that I would like to take advantage of, however I still have 5 months left on my current contract. Will taking advantage of the sale add the 2 years to my existing account or will it override it; taking away my existing 5 months?

I had just renewed mine for 1 year so I asked Avast about it. They made a note of it and when I paid for the new deal the expiry date took account of the extension. Great deal.
