The Dreaded "HTMLayout.dll" error.
« on: April 23, 2023, 11:40:54 AM »
I Was having problems with my computer, thought I might have a virus or something. Not trusting Microsoft Antivirus, I installed AVG free. Half way through the install, I get a message "HTMLayout.dll cannot be loaded to properly start GUI. Therefore Process cannot continue" Can't install over the top, cant uninstall, try to run AVG Clear Tool, Same Message, Try this from the desktop or Safe Mode, Same Message. I run another program I found, AVG Remover, It runs, and restarts a few times, both from the desktop and from safe mode. But AVG folders are still there and AVG is still in the add remove programs folder. Click remove "HTMLayout.dll" error again. Anthing to do with AVG "HTMLayout.dll" error again. It's still hiding in there somewhere. Reboot and the message reappears, I'll just be sitting here doing somewthing else and up it pops again. I got completley annoyed with this, thinking maybe still virus. So, I wiped entire system. Reinstalled windows 10 from scratch. Reinstalled all my files and things, half way through this, i though, better get that antivirus in straight away. Stupidly, I downloaded AVG Free installer again and run it. THE SAME DAMN ERROR. Now its stuck in there again.
Please Help, Ive messaged AVG, they take forever to respond inless you tell them on there facebook feed where they tell you to go to menssenger but then they don't answer.
I don't want to reinstall everything again, My computer has way too much stuff on it, it takes me days to get it right again.

You're on the Avast forum.
Avast and AVG may have merged but they are still different products.
Your best bet is to post on the AVG forum.
