About Avast Free Antivirus Firewall
« on: April 28, 2023, 05:21:07 PM »
I decided to test Avast Firewall since we freemium users got it unlocked too. But one question remains, for which I could not find answer from google anywhere..only old threads.

Is Firewall in Avast free antivirus 100% compatible with IPv6 at FREE mode?

Means I would have as good firewall against IPv6 traffic as old IPv4?

Router has IPv6 firewall as separate program in there and Windows Firewall has been IPv6 compatible since Win XP times..but GUI
on Windows is HORRIBLE...Avast has much more user friendly GUI.

I don't use the Avast Firewall, so I can't speak from personal exprience.#

As far as I'm aware IPv6 is OS related feature - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/configure-ipv6-in-windows
So if your OS supports the use of IPvs (and you haven't disabled it) - and your existing OS is supported by Avast, then yes it should support the use of IPv6.

I've spotted some IPv6 addresses in the firewall logs and also firewall rules mention ICMP v6 rules which makes me believe Avast Firewall is IPv6 capable.
