Windows defender
« on: June 12, 2023, 04:07:10 PM »
Hi there
I just installed Avast Free Antivirus because I was told that this would be a lot safer than just using windows defender :-) So in the FAQ I read that other Antivirus applications should be deaactivated. So I guess this is also valid for Windowns defender, correct?

So I guess I deactivate everything in the windows defender menu?

cheers
David

Windows should disable Defender during the installation of Avast.

Try restarting the the computer again, sometimes a couple of reboots are required.

If that doesn't work then open Defender, on the left side panel choose "Virus & Threat Protection", then on the right choose "Manage Providers".

More info here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=211973.0

But Defender should automatically deactivate itself when it sees Avast AV (or other 3rd party AV) installed.
