Avast Ransomware Protection
« on: July 23, 2023, 05:31:47 PM »
Hi,

the Avast Ransomware Protection not every time announce changes on my files.
The configuration of directories and allowed programs is correct.

For example i can change files with the tool avidemux and Avast don't shows me a reaction.
Changes with the Windows Explorer will be responsed.

Avidemux is not white listed and the affected directory is registered in Avast.

Do somebody knows why Avast works on this way?  :o

Thanks for help.

Found error by myself.  ::)
Avast protecting the existing files only, not new files in existing directories.

Sorry for irritations.  :-[

Thanks for the confirmation.

That said I would have thought if Avast was protecting a folder it would include new files put in that folder.

I don't know if like in some other cases e.g. excluding a folder from scans (see attached image), it would have to have wildcards to exclude new files.

Before doing anything in your settings I advice backing up your Settings > General > Troubleshooting - I may have messed mine up playing with them.

I thought the same. That's the reason why i was on the wrong track.

Backup is known and made. Thanks for answer.
