Avast did not BLOCK a virus

I think that you should change text from Ok to Continue and deny access or something that is a bit shorter with the same meaning.

When I tried to save attachement from mail virus, avast screamed that file is infected, but after hitting OK (or just Enter since OK is the default button) the file was saved. I don't think, that this should be the default action.

xtonda, are you sure that the file was saved?
Can you run ashquick.exe (right click the file and choose 'scan...')?
Sometimes, the file is corrupt, without the virus code. Sometimes, with zip files, you can have good files in it and extract them... It's a choice of the user. Or you can delete all the packed archive.

Yes, I am sure. Try to open this URL http://www.viry.cz/1pomoc/antiviry/eicar.com, save the file there and after avast alert click OK. On my machine file was saved. With virus in mail attachement it worked the same way.

The alert dialogue shoul look some other more clear way and move to chest should be the default action. I searched the help and even there wasn't detailed description what OK is supposed to do.

In the previous posts, I was talking about scanning "on open" or "on execute". As I explained elsewhere, scanning "created/modified" files is actually "on close", and works different. When the virus warning is given, the file is already there.

Ah, I see. However it is not clear what happens when user wants save file infected by virus, avast gives alert and than user clickcs OK. I think many people would expect that virus didn't pass through.

If you're using avast Pro you can also reconfigure the default action.
