Threat secured: Connection aborted pop up
« on: September 02, 2023, 02:47:00 PM »
Whenever I open chrome, I get a pop up from avast that says that it has aborted a connection to some website. This can happen when google is running in the background too. I have preformed a full virus scan on my computer and It has found 24 threats (malware) which I have resolved. I have preformed one more scan to find 0 threats. The issue is that I still get these pop ups when opening chrome, but also when disconnecting and reconnecting back to the internet.

Lmk what to do to fix this issue. Thanks!

1. Delete your Google Chrome browsing history

still problem?

2. one of your browser extensions is connecting to that url so turn them of and use one by one to find the one

The URL on your screenshot goes to something called Hola VPN .... something you know?

I don't use Chrome, so I don't know if:
Note  1. above also removes cookies or if it is a separate option, cookies, especially 3rd party cookies should also be deleted.

Some added information about Hola VPN:
"Hola VPN is not considered a trusted VPN because it collects all user information and does not encrypt data or use secure protocols. However, it does not have ads and does not share user data."

Hey, thanks for the help. 2 days later, I think that its safe to say that the issue is solved. I have a question about this avast pop up that I have got on status,

Why does avast need me to restart my computer acap?

Most likely because there has been a program update/fix and for it to be applied the system needs to be restarted.  There has recently be a bug fix related to VPN connections.

As a side note - the other thing noted on the UI - Given you are using Avast Free these are possible risks, vulnerabilities which can be resolved by purchasing other avast paid products - 'Our advanced security can keep you safe'  :)

You're welcome.

I've been using Avast Free for almost 20 years, doesn't time fly.  It has served me well.
